Our offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm. All sessions are by appointment only so that we can devote our individualized attention to your loved one. We are closed on certain holidays, so please be sure to check our Facebook page facebook.com/northfloridatherapy or Instagram account Instagram.com/northfloridatherapy for the most up to date information on closures!
Please be sure to advise us of upcoming vacations or known scheduling conflicts. If you know ahead of time that you or your child will need to cancel or change their appointment, kindly call our Orange Park office at (904) 264-2636 or our Mandarin office at (904) 880-1444, and we will be happy to accommodate the change as our schedules permit. We do have and adhere to an attendance policy, a copy of which is provided at your first visit. If an appointment is canceled with less than 24 hours notice, or the client is a no-show, we charge a $25 fee.
As parents, we at North Florida Therapy Associates understand that illnesses happen unexpectedly. As a courtesy to our other patients and therapists, kindly refrain from bringing your child to therapy if they aren’t feeling their best; they will have a much more productive session when they are feeling well. We ask that you try to abide by the common school rule of fever-free without the assistance of medicine for 24-hours before returning to therapy. If your child has vomited in the 24 hours prior to their appointment, please cancel by notifying our office, as many of our clients have complex medical issues and are more susceptible to illness. A good sick policy to abide by is: when in doubt, sit this one out!
We ask that you kindly arrive a few minutes prior to your scheduled session so that you may sign in at our front desk and be ready to begin promptly once we transition between clients.
It is recommended that you do not leave the vicinity. However, if you must run a quick errand or leave the premises briefly, please make sure that the front office is aware and that we have a good contact number for you. We ask that you kindly arrive a few minutes prior to the conclusion of their appointment so that you are in place for the transition between appointments. We may advise you of the work that was performed that day and any homework we’d like you to work on with your child. It is very important that you pick up your child on time, as we cannot leave children unattended in our waiting room.
Our initial visit is typically a consultation and evaluation. Our therapists perform in-depth evaluations to gauge the client’s abilities and areas which need improvement. Because evaluations can be a complex undertaking, please ensure that the prospective client has eaten a proper meal or snack prior to arrival to avoid fatigue or hunger. For specific feeding evaluations, you may be asked to bring food/drink items with you. Our therapists will walk you through the evaluation process step-by-step and will provide a comprehensive evaluation report, outlining their findings as well as their recommended plan of care within 10 business days.
Parents and caregivers are invited to sit in on each therapy session, as we encourage participation and continuation of therapy work at home. In the event that the patient is not working to his or her optimal potential, the therapist will strategize with the caregiver. In the event that a client is seen without a caregiver present, you may be asked to re-join the session in the final few moments to review the day’s progress and recommended activities for home.
We try our best to anticipate and accommodate all needs that may arise, but we are always learning and evolving. We want you to know that we have made it our policy to be accessible. Please contact our front office to discuss your concerns so that we can make the appropriate arrangements to respond to your needs.
We routinely provide evaluations and treatment for our clients. Additionally, our staff is available for consultations, meetings, and trainings.
