what is speech therapy?
Speech therapy is the evaluation and treatment of speech, language, cognition, and communication disorders. Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) help individuals develop and strengthen communication skills. It is important to understand that communication can be the spoken, written, or even unspoken form, as a way to convey information between people. We work with each of our patients individually to address their communication needs in the most supportive and effective way possible, based on their own unique abilities. We treat patients who are non-vocal, pre-verbal, verbal, and visually and hearing impaired to develop their communication skills. Schedule an evaluation to see how we might be able to help you.
what is feeding therapy?
Feeding therapy is the evaluation and treatment of disorders associated with consuming food and drinks. Speech language pathologists (SLPs) help individuals identify, develop and strengthen feeding skills. Difficulty swallowing, inability to latch, developmental disabilities, sensory sensitivities, and medical conditions can all contribute to feeding challenges that our therapists help treat. We work with each patient to develop an individual plan of care, and we work in conjunction with and refer to specialists such as ENTs and gastroenterologists to ensure our patients receive appropriate treatments. Is mealtime a struggle for your loved one? Call us to schedule an evaluation; we work with both children and adults.
